No question – staying on top of changing standards can be a challenge, particularly now that timelines are tight. The changeover date for International Financial Reporting Standards and accounting standards for private enterprises is January 1, 2011. New Canadian Auditing Standards take effect late this year, and changes to standards for the public and private not-for-profit sectors are in the works. Staying focused on your priorities is essential. The CICA has introduced a new e-communications tool to help you keep pace with the changes that affect you, your organization and your stakeholders. Hosted by Gord Beal, In the Loop – Standards in Transition is part of the CICA’s program of support to members and the larger business community navigating today’s unprecedented volume of change in accounting and auditing standards. What it does: - Shares information from business, investment circles, accounting professionals, academics, standards setters and regulators
- Links you to useful planning and implementation resources
- Informs you about major developments
What it does not do: - Provide guidance/interpretation on standards or technical advice
- Substitute for advice from your accounting, tax or legal advisors
- Consume much time - you will receive concise messages once every couple of weeks and can check out the resource links when you have the time
Keep the loop in motion – send Gord an e-mail - we would like to hear about your successes and challenges in managing standards in transition. Now you’re in the loop. |
