Introductory Message

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), in partnership with the RBC Royal Bank, is proud to present the CICA/RBC Business Monitor  for the fourth quarter of 2008. This report draws on the strategic thinking and business insight of Chartered Accountants holding key leadership positions in a wide range of Canadian organizations to provide a view of business trends and economic confidence across our nation. Chartered Accountants in positions such as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Presidents of privately held and public companies are uniquely qualified to provide such insight as CAs in industry are highly esteemed professionals with strong business and financial training.

The CICA/RBC Business Monitor (Q4 2008) is part of an international initiative. In addition to the CICA’s survey and report, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in the United States and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) also undertake quarterly studies that tap the insights of members in senior positions to provide a barometer of economic activity in their nations.
