Time still available to enter Corporate Reporting Awards presented by Canada’s CAs

TORONTO, July 2, 2009 – The deadline for entries in the 2009 Corporate Reporting Awards, presented annually by the Chartered Accountants of Canada, is quickly approaching.

Entries must be submitted by July 10, 2009.

The annual awards program has recognized excellence in financial and corporate reporting in Canada for more than 50 years. The awards reflect the CA profession’s commitment to enhancing the quality of financial reporting.

“The investment community requires good quality information,” said Kevin Dancey, FCA, President and CEO, Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). “The CA profession believes it is important to acknowledge excellent examples of corporate reporting that provide relevant, clear and easily understood information.”

This year’s awards ceremony will take place Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at The Carlu in Toronto.

Awards of Excellence for eleven industry sectors will be presented. In addition, separate awards and honourable mentions will be given to companies for financial reporting, corporate governance disclosure, electronic disclosure and sustainable development reporting.

Awards of Excellence for large and small crown corporations also will be presented.

Judges are from organizations such as accounting firms, Canadian Investor Relations Institute, Toronto CFA Society and International Institute for Sustainable Development.

More information about the awards and how to enter can be found on the CICA website (www.cica.ca/cra).
