34. I am a sole practitioner and have always inspected my own completed engagements as part of the monitoring process. Is this practice still acceptable under CSQC 1?

No. Canadian Standard on Quality Control (CSQC) 1, Quality Control Standards for Firms that Perform Audits and Reviews of Financial Statements, and Other Assurance Engagements, on the other hand requires that those performing the engagement or the engagement quality control review not be involved with inspecting the completed engagement. CSQC 1 is more rigorous than GSF-QC, “General Standards of Quality Control for Firms Performing Assurance Engagements”, which stated that, “whenever possible”, an inspection of a completed engagement be undertaken by individuals not involved with performing the engagement or acting as an engagement quality control reviewer for it.
