Many CAs are employed by, or provide services to, family enterprises. The Canadian
Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE) is an organization dedicated to dealing with the
unique issues of family enterprises. CAFE provides opportunities for its members to
share experiences and offers courses in issues related to family businesses, including the
Family Council Program. The Family Council Program trains facilitators to work with
families to develop and operate a Family Council that will act in business-related family
matters as a Board of Directors acts in business matters. The NSC encourages CAs to develop expertise in this field by promoting CAFE's Family
Council Program, promoting membership in CAFE, and sponsoring CAFE's biennial
conference.
