Specialization has an important role to play in the future of the CA profession. Specialist certification programs aim to attract potential CAs to a profession that provides a roadmap for its members to pursue specific interests and be recognized for their specialty knowledge. CA·designated specialists combine the attributes of the CA with the in-depth experience of a specific technical area through a profession-endorsed certifications process. The individual CA·designated specialist receives a competitive advantage through improved marketability and increased value from a rigorous and objective designation process that attests to the individual's skills and experience.
The public interest is further protected through the strict enforcement of each specialty's professional standards. This is effected through the conduct and disciplinary processes established and adhered to by the Provincial Institutes/Ordre.
