Welcome to the CICA’s online resource centre for audit committees. The CICA is committed to supporting audit committees and their members, both by equipping Chartered Accountants with the financial expertise critical to the audit committee role, and also by helping to provide all audit committee members with the broad skills required to be effective directors. Audit committees are facing more challenges than ever before. These include increased compliance duties and potential liability, primary responsibility for the oversight of financial risk and the upcoming transition to IFRS. At the same time, a growing number of leading audit committees are moving towards a new level of performance, seeking to maximize their productivity in order to address their ever-increasing workload and adding greater value both to the board and the company as a whole. The CA profession has a long standing commitment to high quality financial reporting and the effective functioning of Canada’s capital markets.
